The green espalier or beech is one of our standard espalier trees at the nursery. We offer this tree in several trunk heights. If you want a espalier with a lower or higher trunk height, we can also offer these. If you are looking for an extra tall screen, we can also offer a solution in older sizes.
Beech provides a nice closed screen in neutral green. Beech is sometimes confused with Hornbeam. Beech leaves have a slight sheen and are slightly darker in colour than Hornbeam leaves. The European Hornbeam is especially known for its evergreen qualities. So in winter you can distinguish the tree from the Hornbeam, but nowadays we grow both species with evergreen properties.
This espalier form is available on screen. These privacy screens are very effective and ensure that no one is looking in. Besides the beautiful result, espalier trees have a good reputation in terms of maintenance and are more maintenance-friendly than a beech hedge. As an espalier, Fagus is semi-evergreen, as a hedge it is evergreen.
