Photinia fraseri 'Red Robin'
The Photinia espalier or glossy espalier is a leafy and evergreen espalier that, unlike other leafy espaliers, is constantly in motion. By this I mean that the colours constantly change through the seasons. During the winter months the leaves are dark green. Early in the spring, the fire-red buds and shoots are ready, which then transform your evergreen espalier into deep red. As the red pigment slowly fades away, fine white-green pearls appear, which soon burst into white flowers.
Photinia espalier purchase and quality
The Photinia we offer is grown outdoors from a young age. It is then potted and given a year to form strong roots. The result is strong trees that are subject to a minimum of stress when transplanted.
Photinia espalier: age and sizes
Photinia is available as an espalier in various sizes, stem heights and ages. The most common size is a middle-aged tree with a stem height of 180 or 200 cm and a screen height of 120 or 180 cm. We also regularly have floating screens in cultivation. See below for a look at our availability.
