Carpinus betulus 'Fastigiata'
This selection of the wild Hornbeam is disease-free and has a slightly darker leaf. The branches of Carpinus fastigiata grow upright and are clearly visible in winter as this selection drops its leaves completely.
Due to the complete fall of the leaves, the branching structure is nicely visible. As each leaf is exactly the same, you can create a nice homogenous result with this tree, either as an espalier or as a block tree. Maintenance includes one to two years pruning, depending on the growing conditions.
