Hydrangea anomala 'Petiolaris'

The climbing hydrangea is one of our special slate forms. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary climbing plant, but when applied in a cultivated way, it makes a unique appearance.

This Hydrangea is disease-resistant and very suitable for shady locations. However, it also thrives in sunny locations. This plant grows in dry soils, but prefers moist ones. Flowers form early in the spring and bloom in summer and stay on the tree for a long time. The flowers are visited by bees and moths.

The climbing hydrangea as an espalier is a beautiful sight. The branches are golden yellow and the light green buds give a feeling of spring even in winter. The buds leaf out early and provide a refined covering for the wall. The flowers develop like pearls in spring, bloom during the summer and then continue to adorn the plant in a withered state until the following summer. The beauty of this tree only comes into its own when it is older. The artistic trunk can then be seen to full advantage.
